Fire Safety Month at Tinc Road Elementary

Fire Safety Month at Tinc Road Elementary

October is Fire Safety Month, and our kindergarten and first-grade students at Tinc Road Elementary had an exciting and educational visit from the Flanders Fire and Rescue Squad! Firefighters and EMS members came to school to teach our youngest learners all about what to do in case of a fire and how to stay safe at home and school.

During the presentation, students learned important fire safety tips like knowing two ways out of every room, staying low to avoid smoke, and calling 911 in an emergency. The firefighters also talked about their protective gear—showing students how their uniforms, helmets, and oxygen tanks help keep them safe when fighting fires. The highlight of the visit was getting an up-close look at the fire truck and all the special tools and equipment on board.

To keep the excitement going, students are participating in a Fire Safety Coloring Contest sponsored by the Flanders Fire and Rescue Squad. The lucky winner will receive a very special prize—a ride to school in a real fire truck!

Thank you to the Flanders Fire and Rescue Squad for taking the time to visit and teach our students such valuable lessons. We are grateful for their service and their dedication to keeping our community safe!
