Flat Stanley Travels the World at Read Across America Family Night

Flat Stanley Travels the World at Read Across America Family Night

Tinc Road Elementary School was filled with excitement as students, parents, and teachers gathered for a special Read Across America Family Night, celebrating the beloved Flat Stanley book series by Jeff Brown. The evening was packed with fun, hands-on activities that took families on a literary journey around the world!

The event featured a variety of interactive activity tables, each run by our dedicated teachers and enthusiastic Mt. Olive High School honor society students. Each station focused on a different country that Flat Stanley visited in the book series, allowing students to learn about different cultures through engaging games, crafts, and challenges. Families had the chance to explore new places, from creating Aboriginal Dot Painting in Australia to constructing pyramids in Egypt.

Prior to the Family Night, every Tinc Road Elementary student received their own copy of a Flat Stanley book! Students wrote letters to friends and family around the world, sending them a Flat Stanley cut out with their letter, and asking them to take Flat Stanley on an adventure! These new adventures were documents with photos, postcards and letters which were posted around the building for all to see!

The Read Across America Family Night was not only a celebration of literacy but also an opportunity to spark curiosity about geography, culture, and global connections. A big thank you to our amazing teachers, honor society volunteers, and families who made this night a huge success.
