Honoring Patriotism, Remembering September 11th

Honoring Patriotism, Remembering September 11th

Tinc Road Elementary recently came together for a special Patriots’ Day celebration, providing students and staff with an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of September 11th, honor those who lost their lives, and recognize the strength and unity that continue to bring our community together.

The celebration included a special school assembly where students learned about the many acts of courage, kindness, and service that followed the 9/11 tragedy. A particularly meaningful part of the celebration was the reopening of our Gazebo. This special space holds a very important place in the history of Tinc Road Elementary. It was originally dedicated in memory of a beloved Tinc Road staff member, Hilda Marcin, who lost her life on September 11, 2001. Ms. Marcin was aboard United Airlines Flight 93. Although she is no longer with us, her connection to this school and to the people who knew her remains.

Over the summer, the Gazebo received some much-needed updates, including a fresh coat of paint and a new roof, allowing this meaningful space to be restored and ready for our students and staff to enjoy once again. Its reopening during our Patriots’ Day celebration made the occasion even more significant, connecting our school’s past with its present and future.

We are grateful for the opportunity to honor the memory of those we lost and especially proud to preserve the memory of a member of our own Tinc Road family. The Gazebo will continue to serve as a place where students can learn, play, reflect, and remember—a meaningful part of the Tinc Road community for years to come.
